Oak In Bourbon • Scents of Wood

I was worried the oakwood would read too sharp, but it settles into this warm resinous drydown within the first hour. The Haitian vetiver keeps it from getting sweet, which is exactly what I wanted for fall evenings.

The black pepper and anise hit first, sharp and almost fizzy, then the oakwood creeps in and turns it warm and smoky. I've worn it to dinner twice and both times someone leaned in to ask what I had on. The ginger keeps it from ever feeling heavy, even in summer.

I expected the oak and vetiver to dominate, but the black pepper and anise keep it sharper than I imagined. It sits close to the skin for a few hours before the resin really opens up.
