Los fuegos artificiales iluminan el cielo nocturno de la vieja Mérida, y su resplandor se refleja en la superficie ondulante de una piscina. Detrás de una fachada colonial discreta se esconde este oasis modernista, donde el vidrio y el travertino enmarcan un jardín rebosante de vida: palmeras, flores de ave del paraíso y frondosas plantas de jengibre bordean la piscina. Un guayabo, cargado de fruta madura, llena el aire de dulzura, mezclándose con el embriagador aroma de las flores de champaca y el profundo olor de las maderas tropicales. Bajo el árbol, un desgastado ídolo maya yace semienterrado, susurrando en silencio las antiguas historias tejidas en el día a día de esta vibrante ciudad.
