Palo Santo is een wilde boom die voorkomt in Zuid-Amerika en behoort tot dezelfde familie als wierook, mirre en copal. Het maakt deel uit van de citrusfamilie en heeft zoete tonen van dennen, munt en citroen.

In het Spaans betekent de naam "Heilig Hout". Palo Santo wordt al eeuwenlang door de Inca's en inheemse volkeren van de Andes gebruikt als een spiritueel middel voor zuivering en reiniging, en om boze geesten en ongeluk te verdrijven.
