Description In Ancient Greece, hemlock was used to execute condemned prisoners, the most famous being the philosopher Socrates. The word itself derives from the Greek word "konasa" meaning to whirl about, as its effect is vertigo and death. Hemlock itself is a delicate, small white flower that grows in green grassy fields, and thus we started with this idea as the backdrop for the fragrance but added black vinyl accord to suggest a wicked black liquid.

I was worried the clove and cinnamon would make this smell like a candle, but on skin they melt into something warm and resinous instead. The styrax base lingers for hours, and I keep catching whiffs of it on my scarf the next morning. Easily the most wearable woody scent I've bought in years.

The rum and pink pepper open sharp for about ten minutes, then it settles into this warm cinnamon and styrax thing that lasts most of a workday. Wore it to a dinner and two people asked what it was. Heavier than I expected for spring, but I'm not complaining.
