Description

Known to the Ancient Sumerians as “the joy plant”, the poppy symbolized nocturnal oblivion, specifically sleep, night, and death in the pre-Christian world. “Soma” is a Vedic word that means “moon” and refers to the sweet milky sap that when oozing from the poppy bulbs would glow in the moonlight, and which was processed into raw opium to be smoked. Ours captures the before-and-after of the experience from sweet, milky sap to pungent smoke.

I expected this to be a heavy winter scent, but the gardenia and jasmine keep it surprisingly wearable even in warmer weather. Six hours in, the incense and labdanum take over and it turns into something smoky and resinous that I keep catching on my scarf.

The sichuan pepper opening is sharp and a little strange for the first ten minutes, then the incense and labdanum take over and it turns into something warm and smoky that lasts all day on my sweater. I've never owned a fragrance with curry leaf in it before and now I get why it's there.
