From the twisted imagination (and nose) of perfumer Killian Wells, The Thing by Xyrena is a paradox of extremes; fire and ice, man and monster.

Based on John Carpenter's 1982 sci-fi horror masterpiece, this official Cinematic Scent Archive™ adaptation captures the isolated dread of U.S. Outpost #31 with an opening that hits like a blast of cold Antarctic air; clean, sharp, and unnervingly sterile.

Beneath the frozen surface, a sinister warmth creeps in. Charred woods and diatomaceous earth conjure the chaos of flamethrowers and dynamite as MacReady fights to destroy something he can't even define. A waft of scotch whisky cuts through the haze, laced with a hint of fried electrical components from that "cheating bitch" Chess Wizard. Beneath it all is something sweet and familiar (but metallic and alien) like a niche fragrance trying to convince you it's designer.

The Thing is an infectious signature scent that mutates & it'll have people asking what you're wearing; or what's wearing you.

Due to brand & licensing restrictions, and the collectible nature of the Cinematic Scent Archive™, samples of this fragrance are not offered online. However, free* gift with purchase samples can be requested at checkout when purchasing full bottles.

Harper H. ★★★★★

I’ve been reaching for this on cold nights because the metal-and-smoke combo genuinely smells like standing outside after a storm, and the cedar keeps it from getting too sharp. The whiskey accord is subtle but gives it this warm, almost nostalgic edge that lasts a solid six hours on my skin.

Amelia D. ★★★★★

The burnt fuse accord hits harder than I expected—it's genuinely smoky and weird in the best way. Wore it on a cold evening walk and the metal note cut through like actual winter air, lasting a solid six hours on my skin.

Julian ★★★★★

Got a sample of this as a gift and the burnt fuse accord is genuinely unnerving in the best way—it's like sniffing a lit firework right before it pops. The Scotch whiskey note cuts through the cold smoke without going sweet, and it lasts a solid six hours on my skin.
