Com um núcleo de raiz de íris e rosa, Le Cri segue o caminho consagrado de ícones como Chanel Nº 5 e Arpège. Apesar dessas influências clássicas, a fragrância nunca parece datada, talvez devido ao efeito gelado sublime dos aldeídos ou ao toque metálico da rosa. O seu parente mais próximo é provavelmente Chanel Nº 18, uma exclusividade de boutique construída em torno de um acorde central de rosa, íris e ambreta, embora Le Cri pareça um pouco mais formal.

The rose and orris together smell like clean skin rather than a bouquet, which I wasn't expecting. It stays close for the first hour, then the musk and woods creep in and it just gets warmer. Wore it to a dinner and kept catching it on my scarf the next morning.

I expected the aldehydes to hit sharp, but they soften into a powdery orris and rose within twenty minutes, which is lovely. Projection is quieter than I'd like for the price, though it clings close to the skin for a good six hours.
